Who we are?

Judy Harrison is the lead therapist for Azalea. She has worked in the fields of counselling and psychotherapy for over thirty years. She has previously coordinated a bereavement counselling service in Kingston where she supported a team of thirty five counsellors and six supervisors.

She has previously worked for the Home Office Mediation Service where she undertook cross governmental mediations within various civil service departments. She has also worked as a Diversity Adviser for the Home Office where she supported the implementation of a bullying and harassment counselling phone line for staff.

She has worked extensively in both public and private therapy organisations including GPs surgeries, the NHS, mental health units, the Mulberry Centre, and the Herald Unit (a founding counselling unit that was set up after the Herald of Free Enterprise sank). She also co-facilitated a Divorce Recovery programme, for couples who were ending their relationships.

She believes very strongly in supporting community based counselling organisations and currently works on a voluntary basis for ARC Hounslow, a drug and alcohol agency where she undertakes 1:1 work with clients with substance mis-use issues.

She is an external moderator and examiner for Kingston University for their counselling degree courses and also works for the Association for Humanistic Psychology Practitioners (AHPP) where she is involved in assessing psychotherapists seeking re-accreditation in their profession.

She is currently involved in a research project exploring the link between early childhood experiences of loss and addiction in adult life.
